Volunteers are an essential component to the Ombudsman program and under the supervision of staff, our Volunteer Ombudsman advocate for long-term care residents, conduct facility visits and respond to resident complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Does a Volunteer Ombudsman Do?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<li>Advocate for quality care \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/li><li>Regularly visit long-term care settings\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/li><li>Act as a voice for residents while resolving complaints\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/li><li>Support resident&#8217;s rights, privacy, and confidentiality<\/li>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who Can Volunteer?<\/strong><\/p><p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><p>Volunteers must be Delaware residents, 18 years or older, have available transportation, complete all required trainings, and have a genuine interest in making a difference in the lives of residents. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nQualifications<\/p><ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<li>Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting<\/li> \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<li>Must not have been employed by a long-term care setting within the past year<\/li>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/ul><p><strong>Ineligibility <\/strong><\/p><p>Potential volunteers may be ineligible to participate in the LTCO Volunteer Program if any of the following apply:<\/p><ul> \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteer or immediate family have financial interest in or compensation from a long-term care setting<\/li>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteer or immediate family are currently or have been employed in a long-term care setting within the past year <\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Apply <\/strong><\/p><p>For more information, please call 1-855-773-1002 or email  Email: <a href=\"mailto:DHSS_OSEC_Ombudsman@delaware.gov\">DHSS_OSEC_Ombudsman@delaware.gov<\/a> to request a volunteer application.<\/p><p><br>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<br>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  <!--[END]-->\n\n\n\n\n\n  <\/p><\/div><!-- \/container -->\n\n\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Listen Volunteer Advocate Program The Delaware Long-Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) Volunteer Program provides opportunities for Delaware citizens to make a difference in the lives of residents living in long-term care settings.
