Delaware offers several options to medical professionals to encourage them to practice medicine in the First State. Each program has specific advantages, varying eligibility, and award amounts that depend on degree and specialty. The programs require a term of practice in Delaware in return for loan repayment. Application to any of the programs does not guarantee fun ding, and applicants may select only one program for loan repayment.

NEW! State-Funded Delaware Health Care Provider Loan Repayment Program (HCPLRP)Grant awards of up to $50,000 per year for a maximum of four years are available to recent medical school graduates who are family medicine physicians, specialists, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, and physician assistants. Special consideration is given to participants in Delaware-based residency programs. |

Federally Funded State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP)This federally funded program offers financial assistance of up to $100,000 for verifiable educational loans to qualified dental, behavioral/mental health, and primary care professionals. Service requirement is a minimum of two consecutive years of full-time (40 hours per week) or half-time (20 to 39 hours per week) practice in shortage areas across Delaware. Awards vary depending on qualifications and degree. |
