What is HIPAA?
HIPAA stands for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. It is a federal law which protects the privacy of your medical information. Rules under this law, which became effective on April 14, 2003, give you more knowledge about and control over who is using your medical information and for what purposes.
HIPAA and the Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities (DSAAPD)
DSAAPD clients receive a form which contains information about HIPAA and their rights under this law.
A copy of the DSAAPD form is available here in pdf format. You will need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer to read the form. This software can be downloaded for free from the Adobe website.
