H1N1 UPDATE – MARCH 25, 2010

Case Counts: For the period of Feb. 28 – March 6, no cases of H1N1 virus were confirmed by Delaware’s Division of Public Health (DPH) lab, similar to the previous week. There were no new hospitalizations from H1N1 during the week of Feb. 28 – March 6, and Delaware’s influenza activity status remains sporadic. There were four reports of influenza-like illness from DPH’s network of sentinel providers from Feb. 28 – March 6, with the number of influenza-like illnesses from the previous week updated to one. The total number of confirmed H1N1 cases since Oct. 4 remains 1,975.

As announced previously, a 47-year-old Kent County man who was hospitalized since Feb. 8 with several underlying health conditions became Delaware’s seventh H1N1-related death March 7.

School Vaccinations: School vaccinations were completed March 8.

Pharmacies Providing Free H1N1 Vaccine: DPH continues to subsidize the cost of H1N1 vaccine so that participating Delaware pharmacies can offer the shot free of charge to anyone age 18 or older. DPH officials urge all Delawareans to get vaccinated. Pharmacies currently offering free H1N1 shots are:
