    Project Firstline

    What is Project Firstline?

Project firstline is a Center of Disease and Control (CDC) funded initiative to provide infection prevention and control (IPC) education resources to frontline healthcare workers in a variety of settings.

Closing the gaps in infection prevention and control

The project was created to reduce the gaps in infection prevention and control (IPC) that were brought to light with the result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Closing the gaps in IPC knowledge and adherence among healthcare workers requires additional training and resources to keep patients, healthcare workers, and the public safe.

    Who should be included?

Project Firstline is a collaborative effort with healthcare facilities, academia, and Division of Public Health to reduce the gaps in IPC. All healthcare workers, regardless of their role can help reduce the gaps in IPC. According to a needs assessment that was completed in 2020 in Delaware, the IPC gaps and need for further assistance was highly present in long term care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and post-acute care facilities.
