    Home Modification Support

If you or someone you care for is living with a physical disability, your home should be a place where you can move safely and live independently. The Home Modification Program helps eligible Delaware residents make essential changes to their homes to support mobility and improve quality of life.

    How We Help

We cover the cost of certain home modifications that make it easier for you to:

    • Get in and out of your home
    • Move between rooms
    • Use your bathroom, kitchen, or other essential spaces more safely

    Examples of home modifications include:

    • Installing a wheelchair ramp
    • Adding handrails or grab bars
    • Widening doorways or adjusting entryways

All modifications must be made to permanent residences. This program is designed to help when no other funding is available—or when additional financial help is needed beyond what’s already provided by another source.

    Who Can Qualify?

You may be eligible if you:

    • Are 18 years or older
    • Live in Delaware
    • Have a permanent or long-term physical disability
    • Own or reside in a permanent home that needs modification for accessibility

Because funding is limited, support is offered based on need and the availability of other funding sources.
