New Animal Welfare License Plate Available to Delaware Drivers

Animal-friendly Delaware drivers have a new option to show their affection for dogs and cats while on the road: a redesigned animal welfare license plate. You don’t have to wait until you renew your license plate to buy one.

Go to de.gov/petplate, enter some basic information, and the DMV will mail the new tag and a replacement registration sticker.

The license plate was redesigned through the First State Paw Draw Contest. Wilmington Illustrator Andy Lendway created the winning design that features a dog and cat touching noses, and a yellow background with paw prints.

The plate sells for a one-time fee of $50, and $35 of each sale is allocated to the Animal Welfare License Plate Fund.

Revenue is used to provide spay and neuter surgeries for community cats, low-income pet owners, and to supplement spay and neuter funds for Delaware shelters and rescues.

Show your support for animals and help reduce pet homelessness at the same time. Order the animal welfare license plate today!
