The Division of Social Services offers several cash assistance programs to support eligible Delawareans as they work to become self-sufficient.
These programs include:
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
A federally funded cash assistance program to help families with children as they work toward lasting self-sufficiency.
General Assistance
A state-funded program for individuals who do not qualify for federally funded programs such as TANF or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Kinship Care Program
This state-funded program helps non-parent caregivers meet immediate needs for clothing, shelter, health, safety and educational supplies in the 180-day transition period when a related child first moves into their home.
Refugee Cash Assistance
This federally funded program helps individuals and families who have recently arrived in the United States and been granted refugee status meet essential needs during their first months in the country.
