    The State Office of Volunteerism strengthens communities across Delaware by connecting individuals, families, and groups with meaningful volunteer opportunities. 

    More than 900 community organizations are registered through Volunteer Delaware, offering a wide range of service opportunities for over 14,000 active volunteers. Whether you’re passionate about education, the environment, health care, or mentoring youth — there’s a way for you to get involved and make a difference! 

    Programs Managed by the Office of Volunteerism

    The Office coordinates major volunteer initiatives statewide and hosts key events and service programs, including:

    • A central hub for individuals and organizations to find and post volunteer opportunities.
    • Open to volunteers of all ages and interests.

    Are you 50 or older? Volunteer Delaware 50+ connects older adults to flexible volunteer opportunities that match their skills and interests.

    AmeriCorps Delaware offers a life-changing opportunity to make a meaningful impact in communities across the state.

    • Similar to the domestic Peace Corps.
    • Members apply their skills to address critical needs, including education, public health, disaster recovery, and more.
    • AmeriCorps service can lead to educational awards and valuable professional experience.

    The Foster Grandparents Program engages adults aged 55 and older who want to share their time, experience, and compassion with children and youth in their communities. 

    As a Foster Grandparent

    • You serve as a mentor, tutor, and friend to children in need.
    • You receive pre-service orientation, ongoing training, and supplemental accident and liability insurance while on duty.
    • Some volunteers may be eligible for a tax-free stipend based on their income level.

    Foster Grandparents serve up to 40 hours per week and make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
