Helping Delawareans get the care they need
Medicaid is a joint federal and state program that helps low-income individuals and families, pregnant women and children, older adults, and those with developmental and/or physical disabilities or who are blind get the healthcare services they need.
Medicaid pays for doctor visits, prescription medications, transportation to appointments and routine shots to help keep children healthy. It covers hospital care, lab work, mental health and substance abuse services. It also covers a variety of home and community-based services, such as adult day care, home meal delivery, personal care assistance, personal emergency response systems and respite care to prevent or delay nursing home admissions. For those who can no longer receive care at home, Medicaid may also cover long-term nursing care.
